Some big names of film and TV are heading to Huddersfield this summer.
Huddersfield BID’s annual comic convention, Get Your Geek On, returns to the town centre on Saturday June 8.
The popular James Cosmo, who starred in Game of Thrones, returns along with fellow Thrones star Clive Russell, and actor Will Mellor, who has had a variety of TV roles from EastEnders to Broadchurch.
Get Your Geek On has something for everyone – comic books, superheroes, gaming, dinosaurs, TV series and sci-fi.
From 10am until 5pm Huddersfield will become a playground for hobbies and interests, boasting trails, meet and greets, Jedi training, cosplay competitions, wrestling, axe throwing, movie cars, geek market and much more!
New this year is a furries fandom area and Jurassic Zone complete with a fossil dig and live shows.
Sam Sharp, Huddersfield BID manager, said: “This is the third Get Your Geek On and every year it gets bigger and better. This event satisfies the geek in each and every one of us for those things we love.
“This year, we’re thrilled to welcome back Game of Thrones star James Cosmo and his co-star Clive Russell, actor Will Mellor, 90s Gladiators Scorpio and Cobra, and Married At First Sight’s Georges who will be available for meet and greets.
“We have a number of free events for the whole family to enjoy, as well as opportunities to meet your favourite stars and browse the stalls.”
The event will see most of the town centre taken over – from New Street, King Street, The Packhorse Centre, The Kingsgate Shopping Centre, and surrounding areas.
