Golcar United lost 2-1 to fellow playoff hopefuls AFC Blackpool on Saturday. The Weavers only have one game remaining in the North West Counties Division One North and that is next weekend against Bury AFC.

Having secured third spot in the table it meant United could go out and play with freedom. However it was the visitors who took home all three points.

All the goals came in the first half. The first one coming in the 20th minute when AFC Blackpool’s Adam Sumner whipped in a free kick which flew into the top corner past Graham McLachlan.

Golcar went for the equaliser and came close on a number of occasions but they just couldn’t find the net.

The visitors grabbed a second goal in the 28th minute when Jacob Gregory was fouled in the Golcar penalty area. The referee pointed to the spot, Gregory converted the kick to make it 2-0 to the Seasiders.

United managed to get a goal back just before half time, there was some poor communication in the AFC Blackpool box which meant Dan Naidole could steal the ball and get a strike away which went in.

The score at the interval stood at 2-1 to AFC Blackpool. Despite Golcar having numerous chances in the second half they just couldn’t find that second goal and so were defeated.
