On the field Golcar United went marching on with a 4-0 victory over Daisy Hill. Off the field a group of walkers marched the 22 miles from Farsley to Golcar to raise around £4,500 for armed forces charities.
The 40 walkers, including former soldier and amputee James Cairns, set out early on Saturday morning and made it to the Skye Direct Stadium in time for kick-off.
The intrepid group, who swelled the crowd of 374 people, were raising money for Help 4 Homeless Heroes and the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund.
A big fundraising game – Match for Heroes 3 – featuring a team of Huddersfield Town legends including Darren Bullock, Clyde Wijnhard and Chris Billy, will take place at Golcar’s ground on Sunday May 1.
Half the tickets sold within 10 days of going on sale. If you want to go – be quick! Tickets cost just £5 and can be bought HERE.
Huddersfield Hub photographer SEAN DOYLE captured the walkers arriving at the stadium on Saturday and also snapped Golcar fans in the crowd. Have you been caught on camera?
