Honley High School has appointed interim head of school Mrs Liz Lord on a permanent basis.

Mrs Lord had been interim head for the last six months, leading the school through a successful Ofsted inspection.

With over a decade of dedicated service to Honley, Mrs Lord brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to the school’s core values.

Starting as assistant headteacher and safeguarding lead, she later took on the role of deputy headteacher with a focus on the curriculum.

Mrs Lord said: “I’m absolutely delighted that our Trust and governors have shown their faith in me. It is my passionate belief that all students can achieve great things.

“Honley is a really, really good school and I know that we have all the ingredients to make it absolutely exceptional.

“We have wonderful students, fantastic support from our families and community, and a highly skilled and dedicated team of staff.

“Along with all the amazing support we receive from the Together Learning Trust, I know that we can drive forwards to even greater success in the future.”

The chair of governors Alexandra Sands and executive headteacher Dave Hewitt congratulated Mrs Lord on her appointment, expressing confidence in her ability to lead Honley to new heights in an exciting new chapter for the school.
