A charity which helps to prevent and relieve poverty has received a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by colleagues from the Honley branch.
The Crossroads Project received the £2,500 donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to support its work to help people in the community.
The Crossroads Project was set up 25 years ago to help people in the local community through its charity shop, food bank and free legal, debt and benefit advice.
The charity was nominated after colleagues from the branch visited the foodbank and saw first-hand the great work they do and how much they bring to the community of Meltham.
Emily Pearson, customer consultant at Yorkshire Building Society in Honley, said: “We are proud to be able to support The Crossroads Project in our community in Meltham with a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
“The work that they are doing to support the community is providing important support with their many helpful services. Having grown up in Meltham I have been able to see the great work they do first hand.”
Chris Sinclair, foodbank manager, said: “We don’t get direct funding, so this has been a lifesaver. It will help us to keep doing what we do.”
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.
Last year the foundation donated over £283,000 to local causes and charities nominated by members and colleagues from around the UK.
