A young entrepreneur and his talented team – with an average age of just 20 – have won Independent Business of the Year at the Yorkshire Choice Awards.

Video production company Sam Teale Productions, run by 20-year-old Sam Teale, beat off stiff competition at a glitzy awards ceremony hosted by Yorkshire journalist Christa Ackroyd.

There were 48 nominees and four finalists but only one winner and Sam and his team collected the coveted award, decided by votes from the public.

Cleckheaton-based Sam works alongside Sam Brearley, Ellie Connell and Lydia Horne and together they have an average age of just 20.

Sam Teale Productions has shown phenomenal growth. The company – currently celebrating its third birthday – works with globally recognised brands including Santander, Budweiser and The Co-op.

Sam said: “Winning this award has been incredible. My small team and I are so proud of the emotive work we achieve every day but the recognition of this award means that we are touching people’s lives.

“Our content makes them think and that has empowered them to vote for us. So many other incredible businesses were up for this award. We are so grateful.”

In December 2022 Sam Teale Productions launched their own Christmas advert to rival the big brands, a thought-provoking, emotive piece which won the hearts of millions around the world.

Addressing the theme ‘Christmas is made not bought’ the video went viral with an incredible 25 million views in the first seven days.

Sam previously won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year (North West) in 2021 and in 2022 he was listed in Yorkshire 42 Under 42 celebrating young business talent.
