Ruben Jerome scored a second half hat-trick as Emley AFC stretched their unbeaten run to 15 matches with a 5-0 victory over Malby Main at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday.

Emley are second in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division four points behind leaders Campion with four games in hand.

Joe Clegg put the Pewits ahead in the 14th minute when he slotted into an empty net when keeper Levi Owen parried the ball into his path.

Emley were comfortably on top but it remained 1-0 at the break. Three minutes after the restart Emley doubled the lead when Jerome finished past Owen at the second attempt.

In the 62nd minute Jerome made it 3-0 smashing a shot into the far corner and just two minutes later Jerome completed a 16-minute hat-trick from the penalty spot after Iyrwah Gooden went down in the box. Owen guessed right but the spotkick was unstoppable.

Deep into stoppage time Adam Mirza set up fellow sub Jimmy Eyles to make it 5-0 and allow the Pewits to leave the field to a standing ovation.

Emley’s next game is on Tuesday November 28 (7.45) against Thackley at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.
