Golcar United paid tribute to the Northern Counties East League Premier Division’s outstanding team when champions North Ferriby visited the Skye Direct Stadium on Saturday.

The Weavers’ players gave North Ferriby a deserved guard of honour – then did their best to spoil the party on the field.

Golcar, however, went down to their first defeat in 12 matches. They were 2-0 down but levelled at 2-2 thanks to goals from Slater Barnes and Leon Henry. North Ferriby finished the game the stronger, winning 5-2.

Golcar have two league matches left. Their final home game is on Tuesday April 11 (7.45) against Yorkshire Amateurs and they finish with a trip to Barton Town on Monday April 17 (7.45).

Then on Friday April 21 at the Skye Direct Stadium there’s a League Cup semi-final against Emley AFC (7.45).
