Huddersfield’s Christmas lights switch-on will be part of an afternoon of festive fun on Saturday November 19 which includes a Frozen sing-along.

The switch-on will be performed by some of the Huddersfield stars of the Channel 5 Show The Yorkshire Vet, based at Donaldson’s Vets in Almondbury.

There will be a small Christmas market with food, drink and crafts in St George’s Square from 1pm ahead of the Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm.

Homegrown musical talent – part of Kirklees Year of Music 2023 – will join in the Frozen sing-along.

There will be lots of family-friendly entertainment – kids can make their own reindeer hats or Christmas decorations – and you may just bump into walkabout characters including Olaf, The Grinch and Gingerbread Men.

And will there be a panto spirit too? Oh yes, there will! Characters from the cast of the Lawrence Batley Theatre’s Jack and the Beanstalk will be spreading some Christmas magic.

Treat yourself to warm festive refreshments and take a stroll around the Christmas market to pick up a present or two.
