Huddersfield Amateur Ladies have started their current campaign in fine fashion this season and sit joint top of the West Riding County Women’s Football League First Division.

Manager Richard Brearley is once again gunning for promotion with his side so far proving to be on track to achieve his goals.  Having played seven matches they have so far won six and lost just once.

The ‘Ammers’ – as they are known – have pulled off some impressive wins this season. One of those was the 2-1 victory over Leeds United U21s which is the team joint top with Huddersfield on 18 points.

One of the main players that impressed last season for the club was Courtney White. The prolific striker is once again on form and is a vital component of the team.

Club captain Amy Hemblys looks well organised and controlled in her play. The ladies’ defence looks solid at the back led by assistant manager Rachael Graham-Martin, another class performer from the last campaign.

On the season so far Richard said: “As a unit the firsts look a real threat with team unity and spirit in abundance.

“The aim this season was a top three finish, closing the gap on teams like Leeds United and Morley. The next step is to close in on the top teams in the Premiership.”

Huddersfield Amateur Ladies sit joint top of the table.

The club has moved forward off the field creating an exciting reserve side and signing up a new sponsor.

Brearley added: “Lots has changed for us this season but the goal remains the same and that is promotion.

“A new sponsor came on board for the first team. Brighouse-based Town Hall Dental became club partners. They helped kit the team out this season.

“I am delighted to have a local business such as Town Hall Dental supporting the club. With the initial deal lasting two years we hope we can grow this partnership for many seasons to come. We hope we can do our new sponsor proud and welcome them to Old Earth sometime very soon.

“We also made the bold and exciting move to form a reserve side to compete in the West Riding 3rd Division. Superior Eco Lighting Systems Limited continues to sponsor the ladies as they start out their new adventure.

“It has taken a little time for the new team to settle. However the spirit and unity has been instant. The quality in the West Riding’s 3rd Division is always of a high standard, with new teams entering alongside top teams that have relocated.

“Performances have been encouraging and dedication to training impressive.”

Player recruitment for the first team and reserves has been impressive this season, as it has needed to be.

Huddersfield are still on the lookout for more additions as they look to bolster their position in the First Division and push towards the Premiership.

Injuries to key players has left the first team squad light on numbers, while the reserves are on the look out for a couple of quality additions to help their push up the league.

In addition to player recruitment the ‘Ammers’ have brought in new coaches, a physiotherapist, a team photographer and a videographer as well as a number of the team doing their Level 1 coaching courses and Emergency Aid badges.
