Golcar United boss Ash Connor insists that whilst there are no strategic points to play for this weekend that can move them up in the table, he wants to see his side go out and beat AFC Blackpool and enjoy the occasion.

Golcar have secured a playoff spot and reached 3rd position in the North West Counties Division One North table. Having secured that position it means they will have a home playoff game at the Skye Direct Stadium. This potentially could be against AFC Blackpool on the 9 April.

Boss Connor is just wanting his team to go into the playoffs with some sort of form, he said: “We’ve had a great season so far but it’s not over yet. We’ve been through a rocky patch which has meant we fell away from the top two, however our priority was to then get into the playoffs. We have now achieved that which is great, we obviously still want to get promoted which is the main objective.

“These last two games are very tough, AFC Blackpool are a good side who beat us well at their place. We might have to face them in the playoffs in two weeks time, so it will be an interesting game. They have some good players, but so do we, I’ve said all season we have a strong squad.

“Me and Gav (Connor, joint manager with Ash) want the lads to go out and enjoy these last two games and play with a bit of freedom. We also want to win them and take some momentum into the playoff fixture.”
