There will be no FA Cup run for Emley AFC this year as they were knocked out of the competition by the City of Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
Emley lost the game 2-0 in what was a brave battling display against much higher opposition.
The first of the City of Liverpool goals came on the 30th minute mark when Emley were caught by a wonder strike by home side skipper Nathan Burke. He picked the ball up 35 yards out and rifled a shot into Sam Kelly’s top corner to give the hosts the lead.
The second goal was scored in the second half, a quick break down the right saw the home side through and a low cross was turned in from close range with 16 minutes left.
So the cup run is over, but Emley now have an important local derby on Friday night when Penistone Church visit the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground for what should be a fantastic tussle.
