Police in Kirklees are on the tail of nuisance motorbikes and quads and want the public’s help.
West Yorkshire Police have dedicated off-road bike officers who can track down offenders.
Police are urging the public to get in touch over nuisance bikers and illegal off-roaders and give them as much information as possible.
Police off-road bikers were checking Scaley Gate when they came across a rider in Gate Foot Lane at Shepley.
The rider attempted to make off but police stopped him and his machine was seized. The rider, who was from the Leicester area, was reported for having no insurance. The bike did not have a vehicle identification number (VIN) and the machine has been sent for further investigation.
The seizure was part of Operation Taskabbey, a crackdown on the use of nuisance and off-road bikes in Kirklees.
Nuisance bikers can be reported via the non-emergency 101 number or online through the West Yorkshire Police webpage “Report It.”

Police ask for as much information as possible such as:
- Description of the bike or quad (distinctive markings /colours);
- Description of the rider (age, clothing etc);
- If known the name of the rider and or where they live;
- If known where the bike is being stored/kept (often this is not the rider’s address);
- If the bike has a registration plate what are these details (often these bikes have false plates but police can check this).
A police spokesman said: “With good information we can follow up on these calls and although may not find the bike that day may come across it when checking locations.”
