Para swimmers Evie Lambert and Maisie Catt helped make the summer of 2022 a successful one for a Kirklees performance swimming club.

A cohort of young athletes from Borough of Kirklees swimming club competed against the best in the country at national level events at Ponds Forge International Pool, Sheffield.

Evie, of Huddersfield, born with no left hand, and double amputee Maisie, of Mirfield, who lost both her legs as a result of meningitis and septicaemia as a baby, both won medals.

Medal winners at the Swim England National Summer Meet were Luke Clegg (Gold 200 back) Evie Lambert (Gold MC 50 free) Maisie Catt (Bronze MC 400 free) and Jessica Smelt (Bronze 200 free).

All the competing athletes earned their invited places to these high-level national meets, based on rankings from their performances at competitions from March to May.
