A young entrepreneur dedicated his latest award to rugby league legend and motor neurone disease campaigner Rob Burrow.

Sam Teale, 21, founder of Kirklees-based Sam Teale Productions, won the Yorkshire Choice Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The award recognises Sam’s outstanding contributions to the media industry, his company’s impactful and emotive videography and his entrepreneurial spirit.

At the ceremony, Sam dedicated his win to former Leeds Rhinos star Rob Burrow, who had died just five days earlier. Sam and his team had created a film about Rob, his family and his battle with MND.

The film, played during the ceremony, captured Rob’s inspiring journey and resilience, and the unwavering support from his family.

In his acceptance speech, Sam described Rob as an “absolute legend” and added: “Rob Burrow was an incredible individual who has raised the profile of MND and helped countless people.”

Cleckheaton-based Sam also thanked his team and said: “This award couldn’t happen without the best team in the world – Lydia, Ellie, Matthew and Taylor.

“We’re so happy to mark our fourth birthday and continue creating the most emotive video content that touches hearts and inspires minds.

“Your support has been incredible, and we can’t thank you enough for being part of our journey. We would also like to say a massive thank you to our amazing clients for trusting us day in and day out.”

Sam also recently brought home the highly-regarded Prolific North Rising Star Award – and he was so excited when his name was read out he got a nosebleed!

“It was pretty funny,” admitted Sam.

Sam’s previous awards include: Independent Business of the Year at the 2023 Yorkshire Choice Awards; Eaton Smith Business of the Month July 2023; Prolific North Creative Awards 2023: Video/TV/Film/Ad Long Form and Prolific North Creative Awards 2023: Advertising Campaign – Below £50,000.

The team is now preparing to launch their inaugural TV advert for Rock Face for Men, set in Mirfield.

This new venture promises to be a significant milestone for the company, showcasing its creative capabilities and innovative approach to media production.

Sam wanted to make videos from being a teenager at school and he wants to share his passion for business with young people and inspire them to follow their dreams.

Sam would love to speak at as many local schools as possible and makes no charge.
