A dedicated volunteer has been recognised for 55 years’ service with Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Beryl Woodhouse, of Honley, announced that she was stepping down from the Huddersfield Volunteer Group after a remarkable 55 years.
Speaking about her fond memories of volunteering, Beryl said she was proud to support Yorkshire Cancer Research and has made lifelong friends.
Jane Dutton, chair of the Huddersfield Volunteer Group, presented Beryl with flowers and a certificate of appreciation at a Yorkshire Day celebration held at Outlane Golf Club.
Jane said: “Yorkshire Cancer Research is incredibly grateful to Beryl for devoting 55 years to the charity.
“She has always been a hardworking, committed volunteer and we were delighted to recognise and celebrate her outstanding support on Yorkshire Day.”
This year, the Huddersfield Volunteer Group celebrates 60 years of fundraising. Since 1964 they have raised more than £1.5 million, with an additional £2.7 million raised from legacies left in the area, making a grand total of more than £4.3 million to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer in Yorkshire.
