Huddersfield Star Wheelers president Graham Piccavey is excited that the club will be hosting its first event of the year later this month.
With Covid-19 restrictions lifting it means club members can get back to competitive action. The club is holding a women’s hill climb event on June 15.
The event is open to all female riders regardless of ability – but they must have a roadworthy bike and helmets must be worn.
There is no pre-entry needed and it’s just about signing up on the night. You can sign up from 6.30pm with the first rider setting off at 7.31pm from Marsden Golf Club. Prize money is calculated on the night depending on the number of riders taking part.
The course is about one mile long and starts at Marsden Golf Club and ends at the cattle grid where the road levels out.

On the event itself Graham said: “Our hill climb secretary Richard Facey came up with the idea. More women are taking up cycling and it’s brilliant to see.
“The golf club is going to be our HQ where people need to sign up. It’s going to be a really exciting event which the whole club is looking forward to.
“Whilst we have continued to do rides through Covid-19, this is our first event since restrictions were lifted. So everyone just can’t wait to take part.”
