Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, many local sporting fixtures this weekend have been cancelled – though some will go ahead as planned.
In football, Huddersfield Town’s game at QPR is postponed, along with Golcar United’s game against Goole and Emley AFC’s match at Eccleshill United.
Also postponed is Huddersfield Town Women FC’s fixture in the FA Women’s National League Cup against Stourbridge. Huddersfield & District AFL games have also been called off.
However, some sports will continue as planned. Huddersfield Giants’ play-off game against Salford at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday (1pm) goes ahead, as does Huddersfield RUFC’s fixture against Otley.
The Huddersfield Cricket League, too, will play its final week of matches with a minute’s silence being observed at every ground before play begins on Saturday.
