A Huddersfield engineering firm has won a key industry award for the scope and quality of its training.

Westin Drives was named winner in the Contribution to Skills and Training category at the 2024 Awards run by the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades.

The company, based on St Andrew’s Road, was a finalist in two further categories: Supplier of the Year and Service Centre of the Year.

The awards, made at a gala dinner in Coventry, follow other successes in recent years. In 2018, Westin Drives was named AEMT Service Centre of the Year and its technical services manager, Adam Daffern, was a finalist in the Rising Star awards in 2022.

The citation for this year’s award said: “Westin Drives is committed to fostering talent and ensuring its team remains at the forefront of industry advancements.

“Through continuous training programmes, apprenticeships, and skill development, the company invests in its workforce to enhance their expertise.”

Fraser Lynch, operations director at Westin Drives, said: “We are delighted to have won the Skills and Training award.

“I am aware that a business is only as good as its people and training has always been part of the Westin way, an investment for the future.”
