University Valli Opticians is hosting a free one-day Continual Professional Development (CPD) event for optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians.
The event, which will take place on Sunday September 10 at the University of Huddersfield campus, is an opportunity for delegates to earn up to 15 CPD points through attending a series of lectures and workshops.
Supported by optical sector experts Hoya Lens UK, Alcon, Optegra and The Body Doctor, the day will consist of two tracks with participants being able to choose from sessions including ‘Age Related Macular Degeneration treatments in 2023’ by consultant ophthalmologist Mr Sajjad Mahmood, ‘Dry Eye and Well-Being’ by optometrist Piyus Tanna and ‘Optical Coherence Tomography – front to back’ by Dr Rebekka Heitmar.
Speaking on the event, Moin Valli, CEO of Valli Opticians, said: “At University Valli Opticians, we are in a unique position where we have a wonderful space and facility to be able to put on events like this for the wider optical community.
“Thanks to our event sponsors, we have a fantastic line-up of speakers covering a broad range of topics, and we are expecting to see professional colleagues attend from across the UK.”
Supporting the day will be exhibitors including Birmingham Optical, Haag Streit, the College of Optometrists and Nano Vista.
“This is great news for local ECPs,” said Prof John Siderov, head of optometry at the University of Huddersfield, as University Valli Opticians presents the second of what is becoming an annual conference and CDP-fest.
Prof Siderov added: “We are offering local optometrists and dispensing opticians a full day of impressive talks and workshops where they can gain up to 15 CPD points and interact with our industry partners.”
