The Kirkwood’s Light Up a Life event is an annual tradition for many families and it returns in December.

The event takes place at the hospice in Dalton on Saturday and Sunday December 7 and 8 (5pm) with a service at Longcauseway Church in Dewsbury on Saturday December 7 (11am).

In the weeks leading up to December, The Kirkwood will be launching this year’s Light Up a Life campaign offering lots of ways to take part and remember a loved one.

People can attend in person or virtually and it’s more than just an opportunity to remember loved ones; it’s a moment to come together as a community, celebrating the bonds that connect us.

The event offers a serene space for reflection, with each light placed on a tree symbolising the life of someone special, shining brightly throughout the festive season.

The Light Up a Life event on Sunday December 8 will be live-streamed.

Rachael Savage, events manager at The Kirkwood, said: “Light up a Life is a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community, to remember and celebrate the lives of those we love.

“Whether by attending in person, watching online or making a heartfelt dedication, this special event allows us to honour the memories of those who have touched our lives.

“Every light on the tree shines as a symbol of love and remembrance, uniting us all in shared moments of reflection.”
