Huddersfield Parish Church is holding special services and events in the run-up to Christmas and everyone is invited.
American singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens brings his unique Songs for Christmas to St Peter’s Church on Saturday December 14 (7pm). Tickets are £12 on the door with children £4.
The Huddersfield Carol Service – the traditional carols by candlelight service – will be held on Sunday December 15 (3pm). It’s open to everyone and it’s about connecting with the real meaning of Christmas.
On Thursday December 19 (6.30pm) it’s the annual Beers & Carols event, which does exactly what it says on the tin.
The great beer is provided by Magic Rock Brewery but there’s also mulled wine and non-alcoholic options too.
On Saturday December 21 (4pm) it’s the church’s Nativity where kids young and old are welcome to dress up. It’s a family-friendly crib service that doesn’t last longer than an hour.
On Sunday December 22 (6.30pm) it’s the Longest Night service. It’s relaxed and accessible for anyone feeling sad or isolated by the approach of Christmas. It’s also for people who want to pray for those struggling at this time of year.
The First Eucharist of Christmas – the traditional midnight mass – starts at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve.
It’s a calm but joyful communion service with music provided by St Peter’s Choir. The service will also be live-streamed on YouTube for those who can’t make it.
On Christmas Day the 10am Eucharist is a family-friendly communion service with traditional carols. This will also be live-streamed on YouTube.
