One of Huddersfield’s favourite mill sales is back so people can treat themselves to some early spring bargains.

Slaithwaite-based Spectrum Yarns makes luxury knitwear and is having a sale this weekend on Saturday, March 9, with knitwear and knitting wool prices reduced by up to 80%.

Spectrum makes lambswool and merino knitwear for major corporate names under its tradename Glenbrae (https://glenbrae.com/).

The company is also one of the main suppliers of knitting wool in the UK which it sells via its Stylecraft tradename in 900 retail outlets nationwide. Many of the main social media influencers in knitting and crochet use and endorse Stylecraft due to its high quality with many writing blogs on the Stylecraft website https://www.stylecraft-yarns.co.uk/

The sale will be held at Spectrum Yarns for just two hours from 10am to 12noon at its huge landmark mill on New Street opposite Colne Valley Leisure Centre.

There is a special half-hour from 9.30am to 10am reserved just for wheelchair users or people with any other disabilities and those with pushchairs as the mill sale is usually very busy on sale days. Spectrum requests that people come with just one carer or relative for the special half-hour so there is plenty of space for everyone.

The items on sale will include slight seconds along with discontinued ranges.

To keep the costs so low and queues to a minimum all transactions below £45 must be cash although debit and credit cards can be used for amounts above that.

Operations director Danielle Brown said: “The sales are incredibly popular and we usually have hundreds of people through the doors. We are intensely proud of our Yorkshire heritage, especially the fact we are based in Slaithwaite so when we have some great offers we want local people to benefit.

“These offers are only for people who come to the mill and are not available online.”

Spectrum Yarns was set up by Danielle’s father, Richard Brown, in the mid-1980s and he is the managing director. The company has a workforce of around 115 and is continuing to invest heavily in its Slaithwaite mill.
