Two Huddersfield businesses have teamed up to hold a charity wine-tasting evening in aid of The Kirkwood.

Sheards Accountants and law firm Chadwick Lawrence are to hold the event at Huddersfield Town Hall on September 21 (6pm).

Both companies are members of The Kirkwood Business Movement and both have the Dalton-based hospice as their charity of the year.

The wine-tasting evening will be part as part of The Kirkwood Get Together campaign which as well as raising vital funds is also about raising awareness of The Kirkwood community nurses, who work tirelessly, seven days a week, providing specialist care and support for patients in their own homes and in care homes in every town and village across Kirklees.

The Kirkwood Get Together is about bringing employees, colleagues, friends and families together and the wine-tasting evening has been organised by Lucy Smith of Sheards and Ellie Hirst of Chadwick Lawrence.

As part of their Get Together, the Sheards and Chadwick Lawrence team plan to begin their fundraising journey by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The walkers will meet at Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire, on Friday September 2 to scale Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Having had a couple of weeks to recover the fundraisers will meet up again to celebrate at the wine-tasting evening. Wine will be supplied by Huddersfield-based wine merchant Hoults with food from Bolster Moor Farm Shop.

Nigel Patrick, business development manager at The Kirkwood, said: “The Kirkwood Get Together will be running throughout September.

“Lots of companies across Kirklees will be taking part to raise money to help The Kirkwood nurses provide vital care for patients in their own homes.

“We are forever grateful for companies like Sheards and Chadwick Lawrence for taking time out to raise money for The Kirkwood.”
