Saxophone legend Art Themen is to play in a jazz concert at St Lucius’ Church, Farnley Tyas.

He’ll be supported by Dean Stockdale, Dave Tyas and Ben Crosland in the event on Saturday, November 4.

This a rare opportunity to see one of the UK’s finest jazz musicians.

Art has enjoyed a career spanning seven decades. He began playing blues in the 60s with Alexis Korner and Jack Bruce and then jazz alongside such luminaries as Michael Garrick, Ian Carr and Graham Collier.

In 1974, he began a long term connection with Stan Tracey, playing in Stan’s Quartet and his larger ensembles.

He has toured with visiting US musicians, including Charlie Rouse, Nat Adderley, Red Rodney and George Coleman. A truly individual voice.

The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets: £10, payable on the door
