A street food kitchen is coming to the Packhorse Centre in Huddersfield town centre, the latest venture for YouTube food reviewer Danny Malin.
Danny is famous online for his ‘Rate My Takeaway’ food reviews and in September he’ll be opening his first ‘Rate My Takeaway Kitchen’ with some of his favourite food vendors.
Many people love to take photos of their meals and share them on social media and the Packhorse venue will have a purpose-built social media booth where people can film their own reviews and post them online.
The ‘Rate My Takeaway Kitchen’ is due to open later in September and there will be five permanent vendors stationed at the centre along with five on a rotational basis for pop ups.
The permanent vendors will be Leeds-based Pizza Pizza, Hooyah Burgers, Bobby’s Salt & Pepper, Birria Boyz and Wing-a-Ding.
Danny has a range of events planned including celebrity meet and greets. He’s also eager to promote the ‘creative street food scene’ via the new business venture.
Danny said: “It’s a dream I didn’t even think was possible. It’s been years in the pipeline. Expect trending treats, meet and greets and a banging atmosphere. We’ve hand-picked some of the best street food vendors, all tried and tested by us.”
Danny said he wanted to help independent food businesses thrive and grow and his online reviews had often boosted trade.
“It’s been an honour to see how our reviews have helped so many independents,” he said. “Often by us doing a video on their food it has helped to save their business or tripled their profit.
“It’s tough running a food business in this climate but there’s a real buzz about the creative street food scene.”
There’ll be a licensed bar on site and takeaway and delivery available on Just Eat.
Danny added: “We chose Huddersfield because we see great potential in the Packhorse Centre and the town centre as a foodie destination. It’s a thriving town with students, entrepreneurs and a range of visitors passing through the town centre.
“We want to ensure people from near and far head to Huddersfield. It’s an exciting but busy time and we couldn’t have done it without the team at the Packhorse Centre.”
A VIP launch is planned for mid-September.
