Emley AFC were caught cold on the plastic pitch conceding two goals in the first 10 minutes.
After two unbeaten matches, the Pewits never recovered from their slow start, going down 2-0 to Staveley Miners Welfare at Inkersall Road on Wednesday night.
Emley manager Richard Tracey was able to name an unchanged starting eleven for the first time this campaign but it all went wrong very quickly.
Both goals came from headers, the first was scored in the 7th minute. It was a close range header by Charlie Oglesby from a corner. The second goal came three minutes later when Declan Howe headed past Emley keeper Sam Kelly.
After conceding early Emley kept their opponents at bay but never looked like mounting a fightback.
The Pewits’ next fixture is away at Barton Town on Saturday.
