Hospital car parking charges in Huddersfield and Halifax are going up from Monday (August 19).

An increase of between 50p and £1 will be implemented at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, the Acre Mills outpatients department in Lindley and Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.

Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospitals, says it’s the first increase since May 2018 and brings them “in line with other trusts in West Yorkshire.” All income is reinvested in hospital services, they say.

The new charges are as follows:

  • The first 30 minutes are free to allow drop-offs and pick-ups;
  • Up to 2 hours: £3.50 (increase of 50p);
  • Between 2 and 4 hours: £5.50 (increase of 50p);
  • Between 4 and 6 hours: £7.00 (increase of £1);
  • More than 6 hours: £9.00 (increase of £1).

The Trust continues to offer free parking in line with national guidance. Those eligible include: blue badge holders; people attending outpatient clinics to manage long-term conditions; and parents of children staying in hospital overnight.

At the start of August car parking arrangements changed at Calderdale Royal Hospital as work is starting on the construction of a new 800-space multi-storey car park, which will eventually double the number of spaces available on the site.
