Huddersfield-based social enterprise Our Creative Connection has successfully secured funding from Arts Council England for ‘Sensory Stories’, a project exploring senses of identity and place for people with learning disabilities and young people in North and West Yorkshire.
Sensory Stories will involve community partners Exclusively Inclusive from Craven in North Yorkshire, Beech Cliffe Special Educational Needs School in Keighley, as well as Kirklees College and Local Services 2 You in Kirklees.
Chris Chinnock, director of Our Creative Connection, said: “We are absolutely buzzing to share this news! This funding marks a new phase for us and an opportunity to expand the scope of our impact working alongside communities.”
In addition to Arts Council England, the project is also match-funded by the Macaulay Moat Foundation.
Chris added: “I’m looking forward to the work ahead and am grateful to all our partners, collaborators and funders for their support. Here’s to the next step in this journey.”
Founded in March 2021, Our Creative Connection has been using participatory photography to help people tell their story, visualise the narrative of their life and show how the world looks from their point of view.

Sensory Stories will launch in early 2024.
