The Mayor of Kirklees was among the visitors to a care home summer fayre – the first held at the home in over two and a half years.
Mayor Clr Masood Ahmed enjoyed a toe-dipping cool down during the recent heatwave at the event at Aden House Care Home, Long Lane, Clayton West.
Alongside the popular paddling pool, there was also hook-a-duck, a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac and fashion stalls, and an “Is it water or wine” game.
Residents, staff, their families and friends, were among those enjoying the long-awaited summer celebration, which last took place in 2019 due to the pandemic.
The event raised over £150 – which will go towards activities throughout the year for the care home’s residents.
Chris White, home manager at Aden House Care Home, said: “It’s been a special day for the residents because they’ve not been able to enjoy these events until recently.
“It’s also been good fun for the staff, who have worked so hard throughout the pandemic. We’d like to thank everyone who came along, especially the Mayor, who made the day extra special.”
Clr Ahmed, who spent time speaking with residents and staff, congratulated the organisers Natalie Briggs and Lucy Gunson, both activities coordinators at the care home, on the successful event.
He said: “It’s been great to meet everyone at Aden House. I’ve really enjoyed the afternoon, particularly cooling off in the paddling pool and meeting the residents.”
