The M62 is closed every night with a second weekend closure looming a few miles from Huddersfield.

The motorway was shut 15 miles from Huddersfield just on the other side of the Pennines between junction 19 at Heywood and junction 20 at Rochdale last weekend while an old railway bridge was removed and will now be replaced.

The M62 is also closing for several nights between Huddersfield and Brighouse too for roadworks in the coming days.

The Greater Manchester closures will affect Huddersfield people travelling on the M62 to Manchester and Liverpool Airports and into Lancashire or the west coast.

The old bridge is being replaced by a new one which is being assembled just off the motorway and will be built on the weekend of September 21 and 22 when the motorway will be closed again in both directions all weekend from 9pm on Friday, September 20 to 6am on Monday, September 23.

The motorway through this section will also be closed every night from now until the work is completed while engineers build the bridge supports. The motorway is shut in both directions from 9pm to 6am every night between junction 19 and junction 20 with signed diversions in place.

There will also be some overnight closures on the M62 between Huddersfield and Brighouse over the next fortnight with the westbound M62 closed between junction 25 and junction 24 tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday (September 10, 11 and 12).

The eastbound M62 between junction 24 at Ainley Top and junction 25 will then be closed on Monday to Wednesday nights (September 16 to 18).

The westbound entry slip road at Brighouse, junction 25 will be closed overnight on Friday, September 13 with the eastbound exit slip road closed at junction 25 overnight on Thursday and Friday, September 19 and 20.
