Following the success of a Lindley-themed calendar this year, organisers Lindley Community Group are already working on a 2023 calendar.
The annual Lindley calendar features local landmarks, views and events including some of the local independent shops, Lindley Clock Tower, Lindley Methodist Church and the annual Lindley Carnival and 10k race.
All the photos in the calendar are taken by local residents, school pupils, as well as the local history group. The photos are chosen following a photo competition, with Lindley Community Group selecting the successful photographs for inclusion in the calendar.
To help fund the project, local businesses have been invited to support Lindley Community Group through sponsorship.
The community group aims to attract at least 12 sponsors, meaning that businesses would sponsor each month in the calendar.
Once produced, the Lindley 2023 calendar will go on sale for £5 later this year, with proceeds going towards Lindley Community Foodbank and local community events and initiatives.
Lindley Community Group chairperson Clr Cahal Burke said: “It is great that the Lindley calendar was successful this year.
“There was a lot of interest and we were able to involve residents and local groups in the photo competition, as well as local businesses in providing sponsorship.
“Crucially, the proceeds go to important local causes. This year, the proceeds have helped the Lindley Community Food Bank to grow and develop, which has been fantastic.
“The Lindley calendar is produced by the local community and is for the local community. We want to build on the success of the calendar this year, so we are inviting local businesses to get involved now to help us to produce a calendar for next year.”
Clr Anthony Smith, secretary at Lindley Community Group, said: “I want to thank everyone who was involved in supporting Lindley Community Group to help us produce the calendar this year. It will be fantastic if we are able to produce a 2023 Lindley calendar.”
