Kirklees Council is “slightly ahead” of schedule on its A62 Leeds Road resurfacing scheme.
A stretch of road from the Bradley traffic lights through Cooper Bridge to Stocks Bank Road is undergoing major reconstruction work.
The works, which mainly take place overnight, started on October 11 and were due to take six or eight weeks to complete.
Clr Naheed Mather, Kirklees Council’s Cabinet member for environment, said: “We are pleased with the progress being made on the A62 resurfacing works.
“Phase 3, which commenced on Monday October 25, is slightly ahead of the planned schedule for this phase of the programme.
“However, we remain cautious but positive for the upcoming phases with time gained to date providing the Highways teams with flexibility if future works are impacted by circumstances out of their control.
“The current phase of works, taking place between Cooper Bridge roundabout and the BP petrol station, are due for completion on Sunday October 31.
Full road closures remain in place on weekdays from 7pm-6am and on Sunday from 8am-6pm.
