Golcar United’s Dan Naidole is now only four goals behind top scorer Ash Flynn. Naidole netted another two goals in United’s 4-0 victory over South Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Flynn, who is out of action with a hamstring injury, is currently top scorer this season with 19 goals. But Naidole has taken on the scoring mantle with Flynn sidelined and his double made it seven goals in a week and 15 for the season so far.

Flynn had been grabbing the headlines all season but Naidole bagged his first hat-trick for the club last week and now has eight goals in his last four matches.

The Weavers demolished another team in the North West Counties Division One North as they came away with a convincing win at the Skye Direct Stadium.

It’s their third consecutive win in the league since losing their only game this season, 7-3 at unbeaten leaders Bury earlier this month. They have scored 11 goals in that period and only conceded once.

Tuesday night’s win lifted Golcar level on points with table-toppers Bury although Bury have a game in hand and go to fourth-placed Pilkington on Wednesday night.

Despite being knocked out of the FA Vase to Newcastle Benfield on Saturday, Golcar’s league form – Bury apart – has been consistent.

Naidole opened the scoring against South Liverpool in the 24th minute before Buddy Cox made it 2-0 two minutes later.

Cox made it 3-0 just after the restart as he stroked the ball home for his second of the game. Naidole wrapped up a great night’s work 15 minutes from time.

South Liverpool had Kevin Martin sent off with a minute to go to compound a miserable trip back to Merseyside.

The togetherness at Golcar United is plain to see

Golcar next face bottom club St Helens who have only collected three points this campaign so far. They have a negative goal difference of 44. The game is on Saturday (3.00) at the Skye Direct Stadium.
