Kirklees Council leader Shabir Pandor avoided a major upset holding Batley West while the Green Party’s Andrew Cooper – also a candidate for West Yorkshire Mayor – retained his seat in Newsome.

Labour Cabinet member Naheed Mather held Dalton and Eric Firth (Lab) stays on in Dewsbury East. Independent Charles Greaves retained Holme Valley North as all defending councillors held their seats in this second batch of results.
