A not-for-profit charity which runs 13 sports and leisure centres across Kirklees is having a recruitment drive.

Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) is looking to fill 25 roles and is seeking trainee lifeguards as well as aquatics and activity activators.

KAL will provide fully-funded training for young people looking to kick start a career in the leisure and fitness industry.

Following successful interviews, candidates will be offered the opportunity to gain new skills and professional qualifications.

Interested applicants are invited to an event at Dewsbury Sports Centre on August 25 2022. Between 10am and 3pm, candidates will be asked to bring their CV and complete a swim test to assess swim ability.

KAL is passionate about supporting members of staff through their chosen career paths with structured development plans that have seen many lifeguards progress into management roles such as team leader.

The aquatics and activator role is crucial for the delivery of swimming and other activities at KAL. Successful candidates will collaborate with the wider team to make a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing. They will also be involved in a variety of projects, engaging with local initiatives and community groups.

Commenting on the recruitment drive, Natalie Sampson, training and development manager at KAL, said: “By providing local people with the qualifications they need to enter a career in the leisure industry, we hope to expand our dedicated team at KAL and boost the skills of young people in the Kirklees area and beyond.

“We want to do our bit to support young people that have just finished studying for their exams and are looking for the next step in their careers. We’re looking forward to finding new members of our team at our hiring event later this month.”
