Enjoy a magical festive evening weaving songs and words together in the wonderful setting of The Watershed in the heart of Slaithwaite.
Members of Far Cry Acapella and Holmfirth Writers’ Group come together to Wassail you through the dark early evenings of winter on Sunday December 8 at 4pm. All profits will go towards the Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival in 2025.
Jenny Goodman, musical director of Huddersfield-based Far Cry, said: “The audience should expect the unexpected.
“We don’t sing the carols you hear every year but multi-harmony winter songs from folk traditions across the world plus original material and the occasional popular classic.”
Sally Brown, who sings with Far Cry and is also a member of Holmfirth Writers’ Group, added: “We’re so excited to bring the creativity of both singers and writers together. The writers have created beautiful poems and prose inspired by the words of our songs…. plus a sprinkling of humour and bah-humbug! We can’t wait to share it with our audience.”
So come along and celebrate community, light in the darkness, wintery landscapes and angels while supping mulled wine and munching on mince pies.
There will also be a cash bar serving non-alcoholic drinks, tea, coffee, cakes and a raffle. The event will take place at The Watershed, 22 Bridge Street, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield HD7 5JN.
Tickets are £10 plus booking fee available from wegottickets.com/event/638276 or email brownsally028@gmail.com
