Huddersfield’s oldest tennis club is hosting an open day on Saturday (May 13).

Grove Lawn Tennis Club in Heaton Avenue, Gledholt, near Greenhead Park, is welcoming members past, present – and future.

Current members will be on hand to offer refreshments and the opportunity to look around and play some tennis from 10am to 4pm.

Free coaching will be on offer from the club’s coaching partner We Do Tennis. All ages and abilities are welcome to join for a taster of coaching, drills and tips. The junior coaching session is 11.30am-12.30pm with adults from 12.30pm-1.30pm.

A club spokesman said everyone was welcome and added: “Grove LTC is a small, friendly club. It is the oldest club in Huddersfield, having been founded in the 19th century. It is also the last club to play on red clay courts.

“Fun always comes first at Grove Tennis Club. According to our members we are the most friendly and welcoming club in the area.”
