Officials at Huddersfield Town Women FC are working more closely with the main football club in the countdown to the new season.

The club, run by volunteers, is offering a variety of sponsorship packages to local businesses to boost sales, marketing and brand awareness.

Sponsors of the women’s team will have their messages amplified via the club’s main social media channels.

Town Women were relegated last season but have stabilised the club this summer and are aiming to bounce straight back in the Women’s National League Division One North this season.

The growth in the women’s game has seen some clubs turn professional and pay their players. That has resulted in smaller clubs, such as Town Women, losing their best players to rivals with greater financial muscle.

Town lost key players last season but still ended the campaign with silverware, lifting the County Cup with a 3-2 victory over Doncaster Belles.

Huddersfield Hub understands there’s an announcement about support from the main club to Town Women expected shortly.

Town Women vice-chairman Andy Brown, who is spearheading the commercial operation, said: “The women’s game is evolving but our budget hasn’t massively changed and that’s why we need to raise more money through sponsorship.

“The women’s game is growing quickly at the top level, impacting at a lower level as the teams are moving semi-pro and fully professional.

“This, in turn, means each team needs to improve their finances to keep up with the clubs around them.

“We are contacting both national companies and local companies and we believe we have a compelling and value-for-money offer to sponsors.”

Town Women have re-signed The Decorative Panels Group as main shirt sponsors and its other prime sponsorship opportunity is matchday sponsor.

Rather than selling individual matchdays, the matchday sponsor will sponsor every game, at a cost of £4,500.

Included in that will be promotion across both the Town Women social media and that of the main football club, amounting to 265,000 followers on Instagram, 252,000 on X and 166,000 on Facebook.

Sponsors will also receive four season tickets for Town Women and eight tickets to a Huddersfield Town game of their choice.

There are various sponsorship packages available including pitchside advertising at the Stafflex Arena (£200), individual player sponsorship at £450 and sponsorship of the YouTube TV channel (£6,000).

Among the players staying at the club next season are Player of the Year Caz Fields, captain Beth Stanners, long-serving Kate Mallin – who is closing in on 600 appearances for the club – and Yas Mason, who scored a hat-trick in the County Cup final.
