Huddersfield Town Women return to league action on Sunday after securing their place in the FA Women’s League Cup final when they go to fellow promotion hopefuls Derby County.
New signing – goalkeeper Daniela Kosińska – could make her debut against the Rams.
Kosińska has joined the Terriers from Loughborough Lightning. She has previously had spells with Stoke City, Aston Villa Women, AZS Biala Podlaska and Slask Wrocław.
On joining the club Kosińska said: “I’m very pleased to be joining the team. Huddersfield is the club that every single team in the league takes seriously.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to sign for the club, a club which sets high standards and fights for trophies every year.”
On to this weekend’s game and Derby sit second in the league table, however their inconsistent form means the Terriers have a great chance to grab all three points.
Having defeated Stoke City in a comfortable 5-0 win at home, Derby promptly lost their next match away to Burnley 1-0. Bottom of the league Hull proved no match for Derby as they secured all three points at home. Finally, last weekend, the Rams lost at West Brom.
Town Women are currently unbeaten in four games. The last league match the Terriers lost was back in January against Brighouse Town. Since that defeat Huddersfield have progressed into the FAWNL Cup final and climbed two places in the league table.
The Terriers still have games in hand on their opponents. A win against Derby could see them move to within one point of third place, if results go their way.
Last time out at the Stafflex Arena Derby got the better of Town Women. However, the visitors didn’t have it all their own way. Both Brittany Sanderson and Laura Elford came close to scoring in the first half. However, a direct free-kick before half-time saw the Rams go ahead before doubling their lead in the early moments of the second half.
