Huddersfield Town Women FC play their second consecutive cup final on Saturday (April 30) when they travel to the Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster for the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup where they will take on Barnsley.

After beating their Development Team in the semi-final, Town Women make the trip to South Yorkshire for the final.

Town’s journey to the final started at the quarter-final stage as their fourth round opponents Sheffield United had fielded ineligible players and the Terriers were given a bye.

A home tie in the quarter-finals saw Laura Elford fire Town to victory against Doncaster Belles at the Stafflex Arena. In the semi-final a bizarre twist saw Town’s first team drawn against the club’s development side – and it was the first team which proved the stronger.

Their opposition in the final, Barnsley, currently sit in eighth in Division One North. Having won eight games and drawn two, they are just above the relegation zone after 21 games. They have one league game left.

Last weekend, Town contested the League Cup final but went down to a 3-0 defeat to Southampton, a scoreline that didn’t really reflect the game.
