Huddersfield RUFC have reverted to a retro style for the forthcoming Regional North East 1 rugby campaign.
The newly-chosen claret and gold quartered shirts are a throwback to the 1990s when the club was based at its old ground at Waterloo.
The new kit has been jointly sponsored by Estate Sawmills and BigBox Leisure Club.
Estate Sawmills are in their second year as a major sponsor and their logo will appear on the shirt fronts, BigBox will be emblazoned on the backs and on the shorts.
The Waterloo-based gym is a well-established supporter of the Huddersfield sporting scene with links to several clubs including Huddersfield Giants and Emley AFC.
At the kit launch gym owner Jamie Lyne said: “I am a big rugby fan and it’s nice to be able to back a great local club like Huddersfield.”
Having posed for photos with the two main sponsors, Huddersfield’s head coach Danny Brough said: “It’s great to have the support of these great local companies. Hopefully we will be able to give them something back on the pitch this season.”
The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation is also being promoted on the back of the shirts. The charity has sponsored brothers Kian and Finlay Stewart who play wing three quarter for Huddersfield.
The men are sons of Huddersfield Town legend Marcus Stewart who was diagnosed with MND in 2021.
Last year the Huddersfield club raised £2,500 for the charity on the ‘Darby and Stewart March of the Day,’ a huge event organised around 15 of the north of England’s top football clubs.
The serious business of league rugby against Level 5 opposition begins with an away trip to Sandal on Saturday September 7.
Marcus Stewart’s March of the Day MND walk has raised almost double its £100k target
