Dan Lawton battled hard but couldn’t prevent Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club losing to Halifax-based Queens 2 in the Kirklees and Calderdale Racketball League.
Games took place last Thursday night at Queens Club Halifax. Huddersfield were going into the game on the back of recent wins, however they found the going challenging and many of the games could have gone either way but in all the cases they went the way of the home team.
First on court was Ian Smith who played out some close games with Peter Windle. It was the Queens 2 player Windle who won the key moments in the 2nd and 3rd games, as Smith failed to capitalise on game points.
Second on court was Janak Malkani for Huddersfield. Again he came close to victory in a couple of his games but the drop shots from Greg Bedford for Queens 2 was the difference between the two players.
The best performance from HLTSC was by Dan Lawton who had a five game battle against Luke Suthers.
Lawton had the stamina and fitness in the 5th game to overpower Suthers after four fairly even games. Every game won counts as a point so Lawton earned points for his team.
