A new app is bringing the power of prayer to the streets of Huddersfield.

Pray HD is the initiative of Hope Huddersfield, a group of churches including, Methodist, Baptists, Anglican, Elim, Pentecostal, New Frontiers and Pioneer Network churches.

People can sign up to the app which has a map covering all HD postcodes. They then highlight on the map the street they are praying for and mark it as complete following a time of walking and praying.

The aim is that during Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter, the whole of Huddersfield and the surrounding villages will literally be covered in prayer that can be seen in the app.

It is called Pray HD because it covers all the HD postcodes and not just the town and with so many people uniting together it’s prayer in high definition.

Mike Reid, who heads up Hope Huddersfield, said: “The beauty of this app is that it brings many different churches and people together. It’s very accessible and even those who can’t get out of their houses to pray can still be involved by praying from home.”

The app is being commissioned at a special service at Huddersfield Parish Church on Sunday February 27 at 6.30pm.
