Big wins for Holmbridge and Newsome in the top division of the Huddersfield District League as the fight to be the top team in the town continues.

Holmbridge went top of division 1 with a 3-1 win at Dalton Dynamos with goals coming from Charlie Allen, Jordan Saville and Robert Parr. Ryan Gledhill scored for the Dynamos.

Newsome are second following a 6-0 win at AFC Lindley with goals from Devonte Gayle (two), Deon Simmonds (two), Neil Robshaw and Samuel Wilkinson.

Shepley remain bottom following their 4-1 defeat at home to Britannia Sports whose goals were scored by Jake Waterson (two) and Tom White (two). Elliot George scored Shepley’s consolation. Neighbours Skelmanthorpe are second bottom following their 2-0 loss to Slaithwaite United whose goals were scored by Tom Dyson and Dominik Moorhouse.

In division 2 Brook Motors travelled to Cumberworth and came away with the points after a Ryan Fisher goal sealed a 1-0 win. Huddersfield Laund Hill entertained Holme Valley Academicals and a goal from Nicholas Townend was not enough as Adam McKie and Richie Eales scored for the Accies to give them a hard fought 2-1 win. Jack Goring (two), Luke Jackson (two) and Luke Walker scored for Kirkburton as they beat Almondbury Woolpack 5-2.

Courtney Allert and Barnaby Wood scoring for the Woolpack. Kirkheaton Rovers beat Scissett 5-3 with goals from Robert Holroyd (two), Benjamin Hallitt (two) and Jonathan Askin with Scissett’s goals scored by Ryan Trafford and Chris Johnson (two).

Deighton are up to second but equal on points following their 8-1 win at Lepton Highlanders with goals from Dareece Siddique (three), Jarad Pusey, Alan Nicholls, Ben Stott, Dante Newell and Kahalil Shafiq. Netherton pulled off the shock of the day beating previously unbeaten leaders Moorside 3-2 with goals from Ryan Burchael and Michael Carter (two). Sean Salford and James Nuttall scored for Moorside who remain top of the division on goal difference.

Meltham Athletic remain with a 100% record with their 6th win beating Saddleworth United 2-0 with goals from Louis Carmody and Connor Lockwood-Jackson. Honley go second with a thumping 10-1 win over Mount whose goal was scored by Ben Harris. Honley’s goals were scored by Josh Rowbottom (two), Oliver Mansell-Taylor, Jermaine Edwards, Ben Lindley (three), Ryan Ralph and Nathan Doran.

AFC Volunteers stay in touch with the top 2 with a hard fought 3-2 win over Brighouse Athletic. Connor Durkin, Ryan Matthews and Sam Durkin scoring for the Volunteers and Harry Birro scoring both for Brighouse.

Cartworth Moor were heavily defeated by a rampant Marsden 16-0 with Fraser Hepplestone hitting five, Josh Dyson (two), Oliver Ratcliffe (two), Joshua Smith (three), Shane Kelly, Jordan Pettifor and Joshua Heeley (two). Cameron Wilkey, Austin McEwen (two) and Tim McNee scored as Grange Moor Saints beat Hade Edge 4-1. Alex Trowell scoring for the Edge.

Fenton United travelled to Wooldale Wanderers and got beaten 8-1 with Adam Karan scoring for Fenton. Wooldale’s goals were scored by Leon Cliffe (two), Gary Holmes (two), Josh Goodwin, Jack Holroyd, Adam Summerscales and Oliver Haigh.

In the West Riding County Challenge Cup Heywood Irish Centre beat Route 1 Rovers the Yorkshire Amateur League Supreme Division leaders 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Berry Brow travelled to West Yorkshire League Division 1 side Swillington Saints and won 3-2 with goals from Joe Brennan, Luke Gibson and Thomas Oakes. Linthwaite travelled to Hunslet Club of the West Yorkshire League Premier Division and easily won an ill-tempered match 8-1 with goals from Bryant Baidoo (three), Max Morley (three), Jake Morley and Oliver Taylor. Hunslet ended the game with 8 men after 3 red cards! 

In reserve division 1 in a high scoring game Berry Brow beat Heywood Irish Centre 10-4 with goals from Raymond Chingombe (two), Dean Siddiq (two), Rhys Wharam (two), Alex Lloyd, Jack O’Connor, Josh Scolthorne and Liam Walton whilst Michael Brook (two, Reece Julien and Tom Elvidge scored for Heywoods.

Dalton Dynamos went top of the division following a 6-1 win over Britannia Sports with goals from Connor Steele (two), Aiden Jackson (two), Sean Cosgrove and Cav Joyce with Tembo Mpala scoring the consolation for Britannia.

Tim Astley scored five for Fothergill and Whittles as they beat Kirkburton 7-2 with Jacob Bradley and Jake Wilkinson completing the scoring for Fothergill’s. Lewis Haigh and Jahmal Lewis scored for Kirkburton. Luke Webb scored for AFC Lindley as they narrowly lost 2-1 to Netherton whose scorers were Jack Bland and Ellis Pejica. Newsome had a hard fought 3-0 win over Linthwaite Athletic with goals from Dale Myers (two) and Chris Capone.

Brook Motors are the surprise leaders of reserve division 2 following their 4-1 win over Netherton A with goals from Felix Beaumont (two) and John Lodge (two). Jon Hurdus scoring for Netherton.

Skelmanthorpe are second following their 2-0 win at Deighton A with goals from Jordan Geldart and Richard Anderson. A Gary Parr hattrick secured a point for Holmbridge as they drew 3-3 with Berry Brow A whose goals were scored by Jamal Bent, Farouk Usman and Luke McLoughlin. Danny Scott (three), Jack Wadsworth and Michael Wood scored for Linthwaite A as they beat Meltham Athletic 5-0. Holme Valley Academicals travelled to Scissett and came back with the points following goals from Matthew Webster and Isaac Firth in a 2-1 win.

Fothergill and Whittles A top reserve division 3 following their 7-0 win at Cumberworth B with goals from Nathan Shepherd (five), Kristian Evans and Benjamin Jorgensen.

Dalton Dynamos A are second after their 5-1 win at Brook Motors Development. Simeon fletcher (two), Liam Oldroyd, Piotr Jatczak and Tyresse Wilson scoring for the Dynamos and Josh Armitage scoring for the Motors.

Luke Woodward and Paul Wood scored for Diggle as they drew 2-2 with Wooldale Wanderers whose goals were scored by Jake Marshall and Luke Barraclough. Berry Brow B beat Mount 4-1 with goals from Adam Fell, Daniel Garton, Jonathan Lodge and Daniel Moulson with Sam Dawson scoring a consolation for Mount. Despite goals from Darrell Short, Jordan Taylor and Michael Maby Hade Edge Development lost 6-3 at home to Kirkheaton Rovers. Goals for Kirkheaton were scored by Sebastian O’Connor (two), Matthew Stephenson, Reece Nyland, Waqhar Uddin and Andy Modeste.
