A premium domestic housekeeping franchise is to launch covering Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Saddleworth and Penistone.

Bright & Beautiful Huddersfield, run by director Helen Jennings, is to launch around September 20.

Bright & Beautiful is described as a “premium domestic housekeeping franchise providing eco-friendly cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing to a consistently high standard” and offers services tailored to a customer’s specific needs.

Sara Whitton

The Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and innovative accounting software company, Coconut, are starting the autumn on a high with the appointment of a leading Huddersfield accountant to their boards.

Sara Whitton has been client services director at Huddersfield-based My Management Accountant (MMA), since 2017, and has over 25 years’ accountancy experience.

She joins the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and the finance and HR sub-committee to advise, challenge and ensure the chamber is run in a sustainable way for the long-term benefit of members, and act as ambassadors and representatives for the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

The Mid Yorkshire chamber’s aim is to support the Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield business communities, and drive growth among businesses of all sizes across the districts, by providing relevant and valuable support and benefits.

Tim Welton, co-founder and partner at Williams & Co solicitors, and chamber chair, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sara to the board.

“She is a dedicated and experienced business professional who will bring valuable financial experience to the board. Her appointment will strengthen the board of directors and help to steer and guide it as it aims to continue to deliver quality services that connect, support and represent businesses across our region.”

London-based, accounting software specialist, Coconut, has brought Sara on to its advisory board as the take-up of its eponymous bookkeeping and tax app for sole traders grows rapidly.

The company behind the simple, easy-to-use app that enables sole traders to manage expenses, invoicing and tax all in one, is continually developing enhancements, as the introduction of the April 6 2024 deadline for the Government’s controversial introduction of ‘Making Tax Digital’ gets closer.

Sara Whitton said: “Joining the chamber means I can bring my financial and business experience to a wider audience to also help them.

“There are some fantastic businesses across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield and I can’t wait to reflect every element of our local business community and to help it continue to thrive.

“Being part of the advisory board at Coconut is exciting as I can combine my specific, hands-on accounting experience with years of knowledge of the issues sole traders face and help shape the future of software that will make their lives easier and their businesses more profitable.”

A qualified ACCA accountant, Sara has continued to update her knowledge and understanding throughout her career and has also achieved fellowship status (FCCA).

Sara has worked for a number of large accountancy firms and insolvency practitioners in the past and relishes the challenges of being a director of a small accountancy practice.

Unit F2, Copley Hill – Dean & Wood

The UK’s longest established refrigeration and air conditioning wholesaler, Dean & Wood, has agreed a 10-year lease on a newly-refurbished Towngate PLC property near central Leeds.

The company has a long heritage in offering quality, reliability and market-leading refrigeration and air conditioning brands including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Danfoss, Bitzer, and SCM Frigo.

The organisation will be using the new location as its Leeds base, offering customer trade counter collections and deliveries throughout the area.

Unit F2 on the Copley Hill Trading Estate comprises a 5,530 sq ft warehouse and trade counter unit within a modern and spacious estate — benefitting from a large yard, a loading area, and dedicated parking.

In addition, the unit boasts an approximate eaves height of 6m, three-phase electricity, single ground floor loading, high-quality ancillary offices, along with extensive kitchen facilities.

Paul Smith, business development director of Beijer Ref — Dean & Wood’s parent company — said: “We are all incredibly happy with the move and new branch.

“It can sometimes be a complicated process settling into a new property, but both Carter Towler and Towngate have been very welcoming and helpful before, during, and after the relocation.”

Tom Lamb, property manager at Brighouse-based Towngate, said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Dean & Wood Ltd to the Copley Hill Trading Estate community.

“The strategic location of the site will be of great benefit to the organisation — boasting close access to the motorway network and Leeds city centre. The team will complement the existing businesses on site perfectly and we wish them luck as they settle into the new location.”

Towngate PLC was represented by Hazel Cooper, of Carter Towler, Leeds, who added: “Dean & Wood’s lease agreement was agreed prior to the extensive refurbishment being completed — which signifies the strength of the market as well as the solidity of Towngate’s reputation within the industry.

“Towngate’s decision to invest in the renovation programme has since paid dividends, with the firm having secured such a great tenant on a long-term lease.”
