Golcar United’s unbeaten run in all competitions came to an abrupt end with a big defeat to top of the table rivals Bury AFC on Tuesday night where they lost 7-3.
The defeat is the only mark against Golcar so far this season. Meanwhile the Greater Manchester club remain unbeaten and top of the North West Counties Division One North table.
Abs Obasoto scored a hattrick past Golcar on the night to steal the show. Goals from the Bury AFC striker came in the 4th minute, 37th minute and 54th minute. His second goal was the pick of the bunch as he curled a shot past Golcar keeper Harry Stead.
Obasoto started off the scoring in the 4th minute as he guided the ball past Stead after connecting with a well struck cross.
The Weavers equalised four minutes later when top scorer Ash Flynn got onto the end of Bury AFC keeper Jack Atkinson’s save to tap home.
Bury AFC retook the lead on the 23rd minute when Obasoto crossed the ball for an unmarked Lewis Gilboy to tap in at the back post.
The home side stretched their lead to 3-1 as Ben Wharton scored from a penalty save by Golcar keeper Stead seconds earlier.
Obasoto got his second of the day in the 37th minute making it 4-1 to Bury AFC.
Flynn scored his second of the match just before the break to give the visitors some hope going into the second half. The score at the interval was 4-2 to Bury AFC.
Unfortunately things got worse for the Huddersfield team as Obasoto was at it again in the 54th minute as he grabbed his hattrick.
Two more goals for Bury AFC followed, the first was from Gilboy in the 57th minute to make it 6-2 to Bury. They scored their seventh and final goal of the night in the 79th minute as Tom Greaves slotted home.
The Weavers managed to get a third goal three minutes from the end when Jack Barrett scored.
Golcar headed back to West Yorkshire battered and bruised. However they must pick themselves up for the next game when they take on Daisy Hill this Saturday away from home.
