Golcar United go to Knaresborough on Saturday (August 12) in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division with joint manager Gav Connor looking for a reaction from his side after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Trafford in midweek.

Connor believes it will be a tough task against Knaresborough (3.00) with a number of key players out injured. Knaresborough have won three from three so far this season.

Looking ahead to the game, Connor said: “They’ve had a flying start and are top of the league on maximum points. It’s going to be a tough place to go and they’ll be full of confidence.

“We are struggling with injuries at the moment. We’ve got Joe Skarz, Kiero Lawrence, James Hurtley and Adam Field who are all out injured and all of them are worthy of being in our starting 11.”

Looking back at the 1-0 defeat to Trafford in the cup on Tuesday, Connor added: “We need to react by taking the positives out of both games against Trafford. We were unlucky at home and our second half performance away was worthy of at least a draw.

“If we can carry on that second half performance it will put us in a good position going forward.”

Golcar’s injury woes don’t bode well for next weekend when fixture re-arrangements mean they will host near neighbours Emley AFC at the Skye Direct Stadium (3.00) on Saturday August 19.
