Golcar United joint manager Ash Connor believes his team can bounce back from their 7-3 defeat to leaders Bury AFC on Tuesday – and says the shock result was just a “blip.”

The Weavers take on 14th place Daisy Hill this weekend away from home after a first defeat of the season. A 10-match unbeaten run was ended in emphatic style by Bury AFC and Connor knows Saturday’s game won’t be easy for his players.

He said: “Tuesday was a blip, admittedly a bad blip but hopefully a blip just the same. We have to forget that performance and result now and just concentrate on Saturday’s game.

“I know the lads want to make it up to the fans who went on Tuesday. I know they want to do it for themselves. I trust the players to put things right.”

Daisy Hill, despite their lowly position, have had some impressive results this season including an 8-1 victory over St Helens Town earlier this campaign.

Connor is expecting a tough challenge from Daisy Hill and said: “They are a very organised team and it can be hard to break them down.

“We lost to them two years ago when we last played them. Obviously since then lots has changed at both clubs so it will be an interesting fixture.

“They have got some handy attacking threats and do score a lot of goals when they are on top form.”
