Golcar United and Emley AFC have both progressed to the first round proper of the FA Vase.

It is the first time in Golcar’s history that they have reached this round of the competition. Having beaten Handsworth in the first qualifying round 2-1, they then went on to play North West Counties Division One South opponents Wythenshawe which they demolished 4-0 in a sparkling display.

Meanwhile Emley who came in at the second qualifying stage beat Chadderton on penalties.

The Pewits will face Longridge Town at home in the first round proper. Longridge from near Preston are currently 2nd in the North West Counties Premier Division. They received a bye to this stage of the competition after a strong showing in last season’s Vase. The game will take place at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday October 23 with a 3pm kick off.

The Weavers will head to the North East to play Newcastle Benfield FC. That tie will also be played on October 23.
